Construction Before and After

Since Barrisdale’s formation in the early 1970’s, Barrisdale has retained its status as a privately owned business. The Directors believe in providing an effective development and construction service, which is personal and accountable. This attitude has built a portfolio of outstanding projects, in the UK and abroad, satisfying both clients and the councils or other bodies charged with overseeing construction work. The level of co-operation established with local authorities means that proposals put forward comply with the wider scope of a districts guidelines, and smoothes the passage throughout the planning process.
First Floor Extensions
First floor extensions are generally added to bungalows in order to utilise the ground space and also to include loft space, thereby increasing the number of rooms on the first floor.
Extensions and Refurbishments Before and After

Barrisdale’s design and build expertise encompasses an in-house team with the full spectrum of construction disciplines represented; architecture, civil and structural engineering, surveying, estimating and cost control. In addition to undertaking its own developments or providing a complete package for a client, Barrisdale can work as a main contractor, executing in detail, the design concepts of its clients, architects and interior designers.

Development
The pressure of procuring land suitable for development in both urban and rural locations has continued despite the downturn in construction during the late 1980’s. The company maintains a constant vigilance, as well as advantageous commercial relationships, to ensure a supply of prime sites for Barrisdale’s own schemes and those of its clients.

Site Survey
An extension cannot be more than 13 feet high within 6 feet 6 inches of the boundary. You could achieve two stories using a pitched roof and a sunken floor within volume limits.
Ground conditions - topography - exposure rating - existing services - obstructions - All can vary enormously from one land-tract to another. Barrisdale’s' engineers evaluate information gained from boreholes, soil testing, CBR readings and any other relevant analyses before making recommendations on purchase or design.
