At Barrisdale we treat each new loft conversion as unique and always put your concerns, questions and schedule at the forefront of the loft conversion build. As well as adhearing to all building regulations, structural and architectural specifications.
At each step along the way you will always have a point of contact, whether it be the fitter in charge of your loft conversion, our manager in charge of quality control or our office staff. Thus enabling you to deal with any concern immediately.
You will also NOT have to leave your house whilst we turn your bare loft into a sumptuos living/working area.

STAGE ONE "Pre Build" : STAGE TWO "Build"

STAGE ONE:
STEP 1: Firstly we would conduct a feasibility survey to see if your loft can be converted; which is part of our free consultation service.
STEP 2: Upon inspection we will ascertain the possiblities of conversion and determine the need for planning permission.
STEP 3: Following further discussions about your requirements, we will show you our gallery of past conversions to help you decide what you want.
STEP 4: We give you a contact number of a previous client who was in the same situation as you.
STEP 5: After this consultation we will supply you with a no obligation quote and also give you time esimates for planning permisissons, commencement and completion of the various stages of build.
STEP 6: Should you choose to accept our quote and instruct us to proceed, we can have our architect produce detailed drawings based on precise structural calculations, drawn up by our engineers, should you require this service, upon payment of a deposit.
SETP 7: Upon your approval, where necessary, we submit the designs for local authority determination under the 1990 Town and Country Planning Act, section 63, which is normally processed within 3 months.
STEP 8: We will then present Building and Fire Regulation plans to the Local Authority Building Control for inspection. Once they are satisfied, the Statutory Commencement Notice will be submitted to the Building Control Department.
STAGE TWO:
STEP 9: Once we have the OK from the relevant aurthorities we are READY TO START!!!
STEP 10: We sit down with you and discuss timings to minimise inconvenience.
STEP 11: We can write to your neighbours on your behalf to inform them that you're about to have your loft converted and notify them about any party wall activity and should they have any problems to contact us for assistance.
STEP 12: Our service also covers organising and obtaining local authority highways licenses for all aspects of the build including the mobile crane (used for lifting the metal work through the roof), skips and waste disposal containers.
STEP 13: The average duration of a typical loft conversion from commencement of work is 8 to 12 weeks, but depending on what sort of loft conversion you're having it could well be done much more quickly. Our on site manager will visit the site on a weekly basis to check on the progress and to ensure everything is being completed to our normal level of high standard.
STEP 14: Your on site manager will then visit one final time before we arrange for concil completion or a certified private contractor to asses your new loft conversion and thus giving you a completed certificate as well as a Part P certificate to show that your loft conversion meets all the current electrical regulations.
