*Rear extensions of up to two storeys are permitted as long as they reach no more than 10 feet (3 metres).

*Loft conversions allowed, but not more than 20 cm (7.87in) from the eaves and not more than 40 cubic metres for terraced houses or 50 cubic metres in all other instances.

*In conservation areas, loft conversions will be restricted, but ground floor rear extensions will be permitted.

*Building regulations still apply to conversions and extensions.

*Local councils will still have discretion to vary planning rules.
